A Ceramics Community Challenge

#30platesin30days is a fun community event for ceramic artists around the world! A challenge to create 30 themed plates, and post daily on Instagram through the month of October. Participation is only as much as you, the artist, want it to be. BUT the more you participate, the more you are likely to win a prize plate from one of our thirty judges!

How it works...

Each day has a judge, and every day has a word or "theme.' The goal is to make a plate for every day of the challenge while interpreting what that word means to you. For example, if the word is "botanical" you would create a plate that has something to do with plants- You could carve, draw, or create transfers or embellishments that resemble botanicals. Sky is the limit, and your unique creativity will make a piece of art that imbues what the word means to you while reflecting your own style!

Being that this is a ceramics challenge, we all know it takes weeks to properly make a piece from start to finish. That's why we give you 2-3 months advance notice to participate in the challenge. You make all your plates in advance, and then on October 1st you start posting on instagram for the challenge.

So every day through October, you post one plate per day corresponding to the word/theme! Because this is a global challenge, we allow a 48 hour grace period for submissions. So the judge for Day 1 will announce the winner on day 3. It's as simple as that! You can participate as much, or as little as you like. But only a few ever make the full 30 day challenge, are you up for it?

Our cooperative of judges are all donating one of their beautiful pieces to the winner of the day/theme they're sponsoring. So the more days you submit for, the more likely your chances of winning are!

But why?

We all know how frustrating the ceramics process can be, and plates especially stump and puzzle with their frailty and unpredictability. We have created a beautiful community of artists over the past couple years that inspire us to be brave, get out of our comfort zone, and lend a helping hand or a little support to one another. This is a chance to bring people from all over the world together to share knowledge, tips, tricks and new ideas. Instead of reinventing the wheel, let's start with the plate!
